Model Y L wraps for the six-seat Model Y
The Model Y L, Tesla's six-seat Model Y, has its own wrap template, separate from every five-seat Model Y. It is longer behind the front doors, so a design made for another Model Y runs out of body before the back of the car. Download the Model Y L template free, or design on it directly in the studio.

What makes the Model Y L different
Tesla stretched the Model Y to fit a third row of seats: the wheelbase is 150 mm longer, at 3,040 mm. Up to the B-pillar, behind the front doors, it is the refreshed Model Y, light bar and all. Behind that it is new: longer rear doors, a redesigned rear pillar and roofline, bigger rear glass and a rear spoiler.
It launched in China in 2025 and reached the US in July 2026, so it is still a rare car, and most wrap advice online is written for the five-seat Model Y.
Why it needs its own template
A screen wrap is a flat map of the body with every panel in a fixed place. The Model Y L's rear doors and quarters are a different size and shape from any five-seat Model Y, so its panels sit differently on the sheet. Load a five-seat design and the front half looks right while the back half lands on the wrong panels.
Tesla publishes a Model Y L template of its own. Start from that one, and when you download from the gallery, check that the card says Model Y L.
Designing for a longer body
More length behind the front doors gives a design room. Fades and liveries that feel rushed on a five-seat Model Y have space to travel here, and a long horizontal stripe along the sides reads well on the longer doors. As on the refreshed Model Y, start a gradient behind the front wheel so the light bar across the nose doesn't cut it in two.
For vinyl, the longer body means more film than a five-seat Model Y, so expect quotes toward the top of the Model Y range rather than the middle, and ask the installer whether they have wrapped the rear pillar and spoiler on this car before.
Getting a design onto the car
Save the design as a PNG between 512×512 and 1024×1024 pixels, 1 MB or less. Then send it from the Tesla app under Creations, then Wrap (vehicle software 2026.26 and app 4.59.0 or newer), or copy it into a folder named Wraps on a USB drive and pick it under Toybox, then Paint Shop. Every design made in the studio is exported in that format already.

Frequently asked
- Is the Model Y L the same as the Model Y Long Range?
- No. Long Range is a battery option on the five-seat Model Y. The Model Y L is a longer, six-seat body with its own wrap template. Picking the wrong one is a common reason a design comes out misaligned.
- Can I use a regular Model Y wrap on a Model Y L?
- Not without it looking wrong. The front half matches the refreshed Model Y, but the rear doors, pillars and roofline are different, so a five-seat design lands on the wrong panels behind the front doors. Use the Model Y L template.
- Where do I get the Model Y L wrap template?
- Tesla publishes it free in its custom-wraps repository on GitHub, and you can download the same file here with no account. The free editor and the studio both open on it directly.
- Can I preview a wrap on my car before I pay an installer?
- Yes — that's exactly what WrapStudio AI is for. Describe any finish, generate it on a template of your exact model, and see a realistic preview in about 30 seconds. It's the cheapest way to test a look before committing to a $3,000–$5,000 wrap.
- How do I use the design after I make it?
- Export the generated design as a high-resolution image and take it to any professional wrap installer, who prints it on vinyl and applies it. The exported PNG is also compatible with the in-car customization display.
- Is WrapStudio AI free?
- Designing and previewing starts with a credit pack from $2.99, no subscription needed. One credit generates one wrap, and credits never expire.
